I found a great resource for listening, www.ted.com. This site carries lectures about the cutting edge in all areas of human endeavors, particularly in the sciences. Many of the lectures have subtitles in many languages including English and Turkish. I found lots of quite interesting lectures and I think it is well worth your attention. Remember, the key to building your skills is regular practice with resources that interest you. Have a look at this one and tell me what you think.

Watch videos and learn English

Many of my students often ask to watch movies and other such video entertainment in class. While I cannot provide this every time it is requested, watching videos in English can be a great way to learn. The entertainment value of the video captures our attention and we want to understand what is happening and what is being said in the video. Because of this motivation, we try to figure what is being said and this attention becomes a great way to practice. One of the keys to frequent practice is enjoying it, so find materials and resources that you enjoy so you will enjoy practicing. I have met many students who include movies and music videos as their favorite way to practice their listening skills. One student told me his love of music led him to study the words to his favorite songs in English, which greatly improved his language skills, not to mention the fun he had. As you might imagine, there are many video resources on the internet for students. Here is one for English learners that included transcripts so you can read along with what you are watching: ESL Videos. In addition to the transcripts, there are also quizzes and notes for the videos posted on this site. At this site, you can watch popular films, take quizzes and see the script of the film. It is a great site. MOVIES FOR ESL.So, finally, you can watch videos and its even good for you!
